The school follows the Tanzanian National Curriculum with its progressive development of skills. Where appropriate the content is re focused on other widely accepted syllabuses, internationally. Gonzaga Pre & Primary School staffs believe that children's learning involves experiment, investigation and practical involvement, not just theory and drill.
The academic year at Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary School is divided into two terms. The first term starts from January to June, and the second term starts from July to November/December. Each term ends with the terminal examinations and evaluation.
The preparatory class is one-year course. The aim of this one year course is to prepare pupils to class one. During preparatory year, pupils study the following subjects: English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Science, Arts, Good manners, Sports, and Religion.
Class One and Two Study the following subjects: English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Science, Vocational Skills, Social Communication, Sports and Religion.
Class Three to Seven study the following subjects: English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Science, Vocational Skills, History, Geography, Civics, Sports, and Religion.
Promotion Policy: Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary School stands for excellence. This is possible if pupils are striving to obtain an average of A and B grades. A “C” grade can make a pupil continue with the next class, but it is a weak grade. Failure to obtain at least a grade “C” will make a pupil repeat the same class the next academic year in accordance with the policies.
The school marking system is as follows:
There are numerous extra curricula activities available at Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary school. Some activities are school initiated and some are private enterprises that use the school venue. Gonzaga Preparatory & Primary School offers a wide range of extra-curriculum activities from Standard three all the way through to Standard seven. All students within these grades must participate in a minimum of one afternoon activity per week. Activities range from debate, scouts, school band, social services program and much more. Students have the option of changing the activity they can participate in every school term.
Social Service Program: Twice per year our pupils get some time out to visit the sick, orphans, elderly and the poor that live not far away to the school.
The Gonzaga Primary School Library plays a central role in the school. Students are encouraged to come into the library whenever they have a free period or even during break times. They are always warmly welcomed by the librarian who guides them towards books of their interest or for any project they are working on.
