Gonzaga Preparatory and Primary School on the 14th of March 2017 participated in the International Pi Day. The day was commemorated nationally by the Mathematics Association of Tanzania in the Dar-es-salaam University College of Education (DUCE) campus. The Pi Day is commemorated on the 14th of March every year world wide to remember the discovery of Pi and to encourage pupils to learn mathematics as a foundation for national development.
The number π (pi) is a mathematical constant, which is the ratio of a circles's circumference to its diameter, commonly approximated as 3.14. It has been represented by the Greek letter "π" since the mid-18th century.
This years theme was " Pai kwa maendeleo ya viwanda" which means " Pi for industrial development."
