The launching of the Profuturo Project for Dar-es-salaam region took place on the 18th of March 2017 at Olympio Primary School. The launching was officiated by the deputy minister of education who was the guest of honour. Also in attendance were other Tanzanian government officials and representatives of the Embassy of Spain, where the project originated. Profuturo is a Spanish word which means "for the future". Profuturo is a project that originated from a visionary idea of Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic church in the world. The objectives of the project among others are to grant equal education opportunity to all and to enhence the quality of education by applying information technology (IT). In its core, the project applies teaching by use of digital learning. Schools selected for the project will receive suitcases that contain a laptop, tablets and other IT devices which shall be used in teaching.

It has already been implemented in some African countries successfully. In Africa, Profuturo was first implemented in Angola, and currently it is being implemented in other African countries including Kenya and Tanzania. In Tanzania, the pilot phase of the project is currently being implemented in 5 regions namely Dar-es-salaam, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Dodoma and Morogoro.
Gonzaga is one of the schools which have been selected to implement the project. A team of several teachers from Gonzaga attended Profuturo training in December 2016 and in February 2017. Pupils from class 3 and class 5 were also involved in the launching which took place on 18th March.
